After many conversations with male and female friends, Ive notice that traditional values aren't very traditional anymore. Chivalry being one of them. I cant really complain about past boyfriends lacking chivalry, but after recently dating some men and talking with male friends its just one of those values that are becoming nonexistent. Men claim that women are always protesting how independent they are, yet expect men to still provide for them. I think this is a misunderstanding between the two. From my perspective, being independent means that I have the ability to provide for myself WITHOUT relying on someone else. Emphasis on relying. This does not mean that a woman does not accept a man doing anything for her period. She still wants to feel appreciated and respected. Some other qualities she may value in a man include courtesy, bravery, generosity and sincerity. From my experiences, I don't like to feel as if my values don't matter. If you know this up front and cant respect that, then why waste my time and yours?
